About Evangelist Tonya McDowell, Associate Pastor
Dean of Christian Education

Evangelist Tonya Anita McDowell is an Evangelist of the Friendly Church of the Apostolic Faith, Inc., where her pastor is Bishop Le’Roy C.E. Newman. She is currently a Sunday School teacher for the Intermediate Bible Class, serves as a Missionary of the Missionary Board, enjoys singing on the choir, and being part of the Praise and Worship Team.

Evangelist McDowell believes that one should “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (II Tim. 2:15) She is currently attending the New Greater Bethel Bible Institute, to further increase her knowledge and understanding of the Word of God. In her goal in obtaining a degree in Theology, she has found her studies to be a very disciplined, enriching and rewarding experience in the development of her own personal ministry.

In addition to her Preaching and Teaching ministry, God has also called her to the Prophetic and Healing ministry. She is part of an outreach ministry called, Word in Heart Ministry. “Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:11) She believes in the divine healing and deliverance of the mind, body, soul, and spirit, through the awesome power of God’s Word, through miracles, signs and wonders.

Evangelist McDowell is a woman of God, who is very serious about doing a work for the Lord and has a burden for souls. Her ultimate goal is to reach out to others who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, so that none would be lost.

Here is three of her many favorite scriptures that have great encouraged her and brought joy into her life:

“Being confident of this very thing, that He which had begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Christ”-Philippians 1:6

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.”-Isaiah 40:31

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”-Jeremiah 29:11
