About Evangelist Tonya McDowell, Associate Pastor
Dean of Christian Education

Evangelist Tonya Anita McDowell was born on September 17, 1967, a native of New York City.  Being an only child of her parents William and Betty McDowell, she knew early in her youth that God had a great purpose for her life.  She is a woman whom God has raised up for such a time as this!  She has been described and noted for one who "stands tall" and boldly preaches the Word of God under the anointing with power and demonstration.  In her local Church she presently serves as a Sunday School Teacher for the Pre-Teens Class, and teaches the MIT Course (Ministers in Training), and is presently one the Instructors of the Friendly Church Bible Institute (FBI).   Also, she has availed herself as part of an outreach ministry called "Word in Heart Ministry" where she has conducted various workshops.

            In her faith and commitment to God, she understands the call and mandate that God has placed on her life to preach  and teach the unadulterated Word of God.  She firmly and unequivocally believes that one should "study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (II Tim. 2:15).  She has studied extensively at the New Greater Bethel Bible Institute, and is presently working toward her Doctorate in Christian and Religious Education.  She has found her studies to be a very disciplined, enriching, and rewarding experience in the development of her own personal ministry.

            In 2002, she was asked to come on board as an Instructor of the New Greater Bethel Bible Institute.  For 7 years, she imparted foundational truths and Biblical Principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Furthermore, she trained and help developed others' to become Christian teachers in the future.  As a teacher, she ministered to students coming from both near and far.  Her passion is not only to see her students gain Biblical knowledge and understanding, but have a life changing experience!

            In 2006, she was ordained as one of the Assistant Pastors of the Friendly Church in which expanded her responsibilities as Dean of the Education Department.   As a mentor and counselor, she avails herself to help train and nurture individuals in their gifting and the development of Christian Character to  help shape their destiny!  In addition to her many gifts, she also operates in the Gift of Word of Knowledge and the Prophetic Anointing under the direction and leading of the Holy Spirit.

            Evangelist McDowell is a Prophetic Voice in this last hour who is serious about the up building of God's Kingdom.  Her mission is to reach out to those who do know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.  Furthermore, to help bring emotional, physical, and spiritual deliverance in the lives of hurting individuals so that none will be lost.
